The genesis of a separate Dessert Room came from one of Bern and Gert Laxer’s travels abroad. After a delicious meal at Harry Waugh’s house, then a director for Château Latour, Harry and his wife invited the Laxers to their drawing room where they were served vintage Port, Stilton Cheese, and old bonded vintage Cognac, coffee, cigars and the “warmest, most relaxed conversation possible.”
Seven years after that memorable evening, the Harry Waugh Dessert Room came to life, complete with private booths made from old wine casks and an atmosphere that lends itself to after-dinner beverages, quieter conversations and a tantalizing array of unique, decadent desserts created by our pastry staff. Naturally, because this is Bern’s, every dessert is hand made and prepared using only the finest ingredients.
